Annually, Communities in Schools sponsors the annual Rome-Floyd Cardboard Challenge.
The Cardboard Challenge is a fun, creativity-stimulating, competitive event that is designed for area elementary, middle, and high school students. The Challenge melds together the STEAM concepts (science, technology, education, art, and math) with innovation and teamwork!
Materials used have to be 100% recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic bottles or cans. Students compete in the categories of Art, Arcade Games, and Designer’s Choice to find out who can make the best robot, spaceship, or building!
Event winners who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are awarded medals. Concessions like popcorn, soft drinks, breakfast items, candy bars, and chips are made available to competitors and visitors. Also, each competitor is outfitted with an event t-shirt.
